June 2017 puts Israel`s military occupation of the Palestinian territory of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including East Jerusalem, at 50. From this vantage point, this talk will provide a tour de force of Palestinian practice and posture towards international law both reflectively and reflexively. It will observe how Palestinian appeals to international legality and engagement with international law both reveal and interrogate the coordinates of what we know perceive as international law legal process at-work. Dr Valentina Azarova, who recently joined the CGPL as a Post Doctoral Fellow, has spent close to a decade working on Palestine as an international lawyer and international law scholar. During these years she worked for a range of Palestinian and international non-governmental organisations engaged in litigation, advocacy, and lobbying; lectured in international law at Palestinian universities; and undertook independent research on Palestine and international law.
