Promotions at College of EngineeringAuthor: COLLEGE OF ENGENEERING
I am very pleased to announce that our Board of Trustees has approved the promotions of Dr. Metin Muradoğlu (to Professor of Mechanical Engineering) and Dr. Metin Sezgin (to Associate Professor of Computer Engineering).
Dr. Muradoğlu received his PhD from Cornell University in 2000 and joined Koç University in 2001. His research areas are fluid flow applications and computational fluid dynamics. His papers have consistently appeared in the top journals in his field and he is recognized to be a leader in developing original computational methodologies for challenging problems in fluid dynamics applications. He is the recipient of TÜBİTAK Teşvik, TÜBA GEBİP and Mustafa Parlar Foundation awards and is an Associate Member of TÜBA.
Dr. Muradoğlu has significantly contributed to our undergraduate programs in Mechanical Engineering, designing and teaching several courses over the years. He has also supervised a large number of graduate students who are pursuing academic careers.
Dr. Metin Sezgin received his PhD from MIT in 2006 and joined Koç University in 2009 following a postdoctoral appointment at Cambridge University. His research focuses on developing techniques for better human-computer interaction using computer vision, machine learning and computer graphics methodologies. He is especially recognized for his research on sketch based recognition and is known to be one of the top young researchers in this field. He is also the recipient of the TÜBA GEBİP award and has several patents based on his research.
Dr. Metin Sezgin has been an important contributor to our Computer Engineering teaching with a range of courses at all levels and as a supervisor of many graduate students.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Muradoğlu and Dr. Sezgin for these significant achievements.
