Erasmus+ Worldwide Internship Program Second Call for Applications

ANNOUNCEMENT: ERASMUS+ WORLDWIDE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM SECOND CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

Office of Interantional Program is delighted to present the internship destinations via Erasmus+ Worldwide Internship Program! Erasmus+ Worldwide extends beyond Europe, allowing for mobility from and to other parts of the world.

 

Application Dates

Second round of applications for Erasmus+ Worldwide Internship program will be open between  17/06/2019 - 05/07/2019. For more information on scheduling, please check OIP’s Application and Selection Calendar

 

Where to Intern?

 Students will have to find their work placements independently.

 

Students can intern at companies, education institutions/centers, research centers/facilities or any type of organization that is classified as “business enterprise” by the Erasmus+ Program Guide.

 

The Erasmus placement period cannot be used to conduct research or analysis projects related to academic studies within a certain program. Research projects cannot be considered as training activities. Mobility cannot be a laboratory work or scientific research. Students need to practice professional activities and internship must be carried out as the economic provisions in the relevant sector. For example, working at a company’s R & D department for product development and working at a university’s research center for a company’s project on product development could be considered as internship.

 

As part of Erasmus+ Worldwide Internship program, students can intern in the following countries:

 

Switzerland (**Internships in Switzerland could only be in the area of “Digital Skills”). At least one of the following digital skills should be covered during the internship: digital marketing (i.e. social media management, web analytics), digital graphic, mechanic or architectural design, software, coding or website development, development/maintenance/management of IT systems and networks, cyber security, data analytics, data mining and data visualization, programming and training of robots and artificial intelligence.

 

Egypt (Cairo)

 

Russia (St. Petersburg / Moscow)

 

As part of Erasmus+ Worldwide Internship program, students can intern at the administrative offices of the following partner Universities:

 

American University of Cairo (Egypt)

 

 Higher School of Economics (HSE) (Moscow/St. Petersburg-Russia)

 

Host (receiving) organizations for student traineeships may be any public or private organization active in the labor market or in the fields of education, training and youth. Such organization can be:

- a public or private, a small, medium or large enterprise (including social enterprises);

- a public body at local, regional or national level;

- a social partner or other representative of working life, including chambers of commerce, craft/professional associations and trade unions;

- a research institute (as described above);

- a foundation;

- a school/institute/educational center (at any level, from pre-school to upper secondary education, and including vocational education and adult education);

- a non-profit organization, association, NGO;

- a body providing career guidance, professional counselling and information services

 

Activities may not take place at European Union institutions and other EU bodies including specialized agencies, organizations managing EU programs, and national diplomatic representations (embassy and consulate) of the home country of the student.

 

The following types of organizations are not eligible as receiving organizations for student traineeships:

- EU institutions and other EU bodies including specialized agencies Organizations managing

- EU programs such as national agencies

 

Internship Quota

2018 Erasmus+ Worldwide program offers the following countries as internship destinations, and quotas are pre-set for countries listed in the table.

Application Requirements

Minimum required CGPA 2.20 for undergraduate, 2.50 for graduate and postgraduate students.

Language Requirement: Koç University Institutional TOEF (550 PBT), TOEFL (550 PBT/ 80 IBT) or IELTS Score Card (min. 6.5) (valid for 2 years after the test date)

Application Documents

 

·         A 2-month-period acceptance from the host organization: Students are required find their internship and receive an acceptance letter from the host organization in one of the partner countries: Switzerland, Egypt, Russia.

  • Special Needs Statement & Proving documents (if applicable)
  • Substitutive documents for children of martyr and veteran people (if applicable)
  • Substitutive documents for students who are covered by the 2828 numbered Social Services Law (if applicable)

 

Placement Criteria

  • 50% of your CGPA and 50% of Language Score
  • Previous participation in any Erasmus+ program in the same study cycle: -10 points
  • Disabled students receive +5 points if proving documents are provided in the application.
  • Children of martyr and veteran people receive +5 points if proving documents are provided in the application.
  • Students who are covered by the 2828 numbered Social Services Law receive +5 points if proving documents are provided in the application.
  • Students who want to participate in mobility programs in their birth country receive -5 points.

 

How to Apply

  • Online application is done via https://kuapp.ku.edu.tr Demo video is available on program webpage
  • Upload the scanned copies of application documents to Kuapp. Please note that application documents must be recent. Outdated documents will not be accepted and the application will be automatically rejected.

 

Erasmus+ Worldwide Grant

Erasmus+ Worldwide Study program provides monthly stipend as well as travel grant to selected participants. Koç University student going to a partner country receives 700€ per month.

 

Selected participants also receives travel grant. The calculation is done based on the distance between Koç University and the host city. Calculation is done by Distance Calculator (https://ec.europa.eu/programmes/erasmus-plus/resources/distance-calculator_en )

Quotas for Erasmus+ Worldwide grant will be distributed equally to all colleges. Applicants with highest ranking from each college according to placement criteria will be selected for the related partner universities. If there is no application form a certain college/institute, grant quota will be allocated among the applicants from participating colleges/institutes based on their placement scores.

 

Additional Grant for Participants with Special Needs

The allowances are offered when disabilities or health conditions lead to additional mobility costs, which exceed the maximum grant allocations allowed and which cannot be recovered from other sources. The grant covers approved actual costs. Participant should contact OIP for additional grant application.

 

Zero Grant Participation

Students are able to participate in Erasmus+ Worldwide Internship program without receiving a grant. However, it should be noted that the student have to go through the same application & selection procedures and submit the required documents (before-during-after mobility) to OIP.
