Applications are open for INCOMING EXCHANGE STUDENTS MENTORSHIP for Spring 2020 semester!

Each semester, Koç University welcomes exchange students from reputable universities around the globe, and we are seeking individuals with strong leadership, communication and organizational skills to act as guides and resource person for students new to KU and Turkey.

As (future) Incoming Exchange Student Mentor, you will:

- Participate in every session of the Mentor Training and Orientation Week (dates are below)

- Provide peer-to-peer support to incoming exchange students throughout the semester regarding their academic and cultural integration to KU and the country

- Report your interactions with mentees to your OIP Supervisors by submitting Communication Logs every two weeks

- Provide administrative support to OIP with office hours every week (1,5 hours a week)

- Organize social and cultural activities for incoming exchange students (on-campus, within Istanbul or outside Istanbul)

- Create content for the OIP Blog for incoming exchange students and, also encourage incoming exchange students to contribute to the Blog with their experiences at KU and Turkey

- Support or cover for another mentor in case of an emergency

All applications will be considered, however; preference will be given to those who can;

- Successfully demonstrate cultural sensitivity and ability to communicate with individuals with different backgrounds

- Strong sense of responsibility and commitment

- Leadership qualities

Please also check other prerequisites of the program below. The candidates who can’t comply with the below schedule will not be considered for the position.


Spring 2020

- Being available on January 16, Thursday and January 17, Friday for the Mentor Training.

- Being present at campus on January 18, Saturday and January 19, Sunday to help the incoming exchange students to check-in to the dormitories.

- Being present at all the sessions and events during the Orientation Week that will run between January 20, Monday and January 24, Friday.


Please note that Incoming Exchange Student Mentorship is a work/study program, and mentors will work and be paid in line with the regulations set by OIP and the Scholarships Office.
