Deakin University Scholarship & New Agreement Announcements

Author: Çiçek Dereli - Exchange Programs Office

Dear Koç University Family,

I am excited to be sending you information about Australian Government Scholarship for students coming from Turkey to study at Deakin University and the brand new agreements of Koç University with Erasmus and Non-Erasmus Partners.

If you have even the tiniest possible interest, please take the time to read through all the information in this email--nothing is extra, all is relevant.

Professors and all supporting personnel, please review our new agreements and recommend places you think can work to your students.

Students, we have been just informed about a great scholarship opportunity at Deakin University in Melbourne – Australia.  Australian Government offers a 5000$ scholarship to Turkish students, coming to study at Deakin University. This is a great opportunity to study in Melbourne, which is one of the most beautiful and livable cities in the world. So you are getting paid to study in Australia so why don’t you??? This is a great opportunity for you to gain invaluable experience and exposure to the world beyond what you know.

Students, for the last couple of weeks, we have signed really valuable agreements with new Erasmus and Non-Erasmus Partners, such as HEC (Paris), Science Po (Paris), German Technical University (Munchen), Rice University (USA)… also still there are some wonderful places left for exchange for next year, so DO NOT MISS THIS ONCE IN A LIFE TIME OPPORTUNITY! Give yourself a chance to taste the diversity and make a difference! Come and chat with us, we are here to help you.

Yes, exchange can be a great addition to your CV, your academic career, etc.  But, the true value of exchange lies in facing challenges and overcoming them, in putting yourself in a new environment and making the most of it.  We tend to get comfortable in our self-made boxes--the familiar movement of everyday life, our usual patterns, our usual hang-outs.  Exchange is an opportunity to flip all of that on top of its head and see if you can make it.  Believe me, if you think you can make it, you will; and knowing that is one of the most important keys to success in life.

**PLEASE NOTE: The free slot system works mostly on a first-come, first-serve basis.  So, the sooner you apply, the better your chances of getting in!

**ALSO NOTE: Though some partner schools do not have a minimum GPA requirement, Koç University requires all exchange students to have at least a 2.0 GPA.

OK!  We are here to help and advise.  But, I always recommend that you go and speak to your advisor and department-specific Erasmus Coordinator first about your options.

Erasmus Coordinators are as follows:

CASE--Fuat Keyman

CSSH--Dilek Barlas

CS--Ali Serpenguzel

CE--Metin Muradoglu

CL--Deniz Guner Ozbek

You can contact myself or Ayşe Hanım with further questions: x1345 (or for me, x1280 (or for Ayşe Hanım.

Hope to see you all in here soon!
