3 Strategies to promote students' preparation prior to class

Although the members of faculty often assign readings to prepare students for the lecture, students seldom comply with these assignments. In those rare situations when the students read the material in advance of the class time, they have difficulty in articulating their thoughts during the class discussion or in response to faculty questions. We will discuss the feasibility of three alternative strategies to promote effective reading prior to class and effective thinking during a class discussion.
